Pre-dinner smooching
Here we're enjoying a moment as we gather for dinner.
Us together at last
I can't stop taking these self-portraits. Apparently it's something I've picked up from my father.
Us right after the ceremony
The happily (newly) married couple - I remember tearing up when I saw C in her dress. Stunning!
Carolyn and her grandmother
Here's Carolyn's grandmother, looking beautiful and radiant as any young woman should.
New to the familiy
This is a great picture of Carolyn and me with her parents, who made quite the journey to be in Washington for the wedding. Thanks guys!
Cutting the cake and looking devilish
We look a little mischievious here but we're about to cut the cake. I love the many faces of Carolyn!
C and Steve dancing
Despite a little run-in with the sound system (which was later sorted out, and not Jessica's fault) we were able to do a little dancing in the main hall. Carolyn's dad is quite the dancer, schooled in all manners of maneuvering, which was good for her given my nack for stepping on her toes.
Signing the marraige certificate
And then there's the little matter of paperwork. After our signing we were legal.
The newley weds with my parents
My parents also went to great lengths to attend our wedding. I know we didn't make things easy given that things were such short notice, so our thanks goes to those who made it and our appologies and understanding go to those who for whatever reason could not.
The younger generation
The union of the Spehr/Vest/Stamper families, at least in a photo. Thanks for coming Janet and Brian!
C dons her queenly crown for the New Years celebration
It was great to have our ceremony on New Year's Eve. We were able to use the seasonal decorations at the Villa to our advantage, which turned out so beautifuly. Also we'll be able to order up fireworks for our anniversary without much trouble no matter where we are.
Showcase of rings
Another shot of our rings along with C's bouquet. Much thanks goes to Green Lake Jewelry Works for helping us create the rings - they're an impressive outfit.
One of the best cakes I've ever had
Another round of thanks goes to the masters at Tom Douglas' bakery for putting together a tremendous cake. For anyone out there planning a wedding and expecting to spend a lot of money on a cake: STOP! Check out the offerings of the Dhalia Bakery first.
The first kiss
Then there's the first kiss. Sorry for those who thought it may have lasted a little longer then is socially acceptable - I got carried away.
The men
Here's a great picture of the men of the family, at least those in attendance. Not shown is my grandfather and uncle.
Two rings unite
We were married in front of the Villa's hearth, shown here with the rings front and center.
C with her bouquet and shoes
Another great shot of Carolyn, this time with her fabulous red shoes in sight. Apparently she worked really hard to find the right pair, and my hat gets tipped to that - they were definitely the right ones.
Friends at our wedding
Thanks also must be given to Jessica and Paige for coming down to the Villa for the wedding. Other's had hoped to attend but illness got the better of Seth and Deb, and our notice proved too short for James and Sophie. Then there are the friends in other states and countries: we really wish you could have shared our moment with us. Here is a short list: Jamie, Paul, Regan, Travis, Sarah, Christine, Ed, Suzanne (times two), Ducit, and Melanie. We missed you.

Thanks for visiting!
Please stay tuned for future developments
